In NCA5, physical science is represented in two chapters. The Climate Trends chapter discusses observed and projected trends in the drivers of climate change, multiple climate variables, and extreme events. The Earth System Processes chapter discusses advances in scientific understanding since NCA4. I'll provide an overview of the new developments in physical science discussed in NCA5, explain the organizing framework, and discuss how the climate trends/processes chapters fit into the overall report.
